Cobbing was een verkenner van klankpoëzie in Engeland.
Hij was bezield met een doorgedreven lust tot experimenteren
met visuele en performatieve poëzie. Zijn wekelijkse Experimental
Poetry Workshop en talloze performances van zijn eigen poëzie,
hebben een hele generatie Engelse experimentele dichters beïnvloed.
Bob Cobbing overleed in 2002. Zijn kleinzoon, William Cobbing,
stelde voor een van de laatste performances van Bob in het Royal
College of Art te screening: een hulde ter afsluiting van Wiliam
Cobbing’s presentatie in Netwerk.

Transient constructions (2003) en Paranoid obstructions (2004)
is Implants de derde keer dat Els Vanden
Meersch ervoor kiest haar fotografisch werk in boekvorm
te bundelen. Meer nog dan in de vorige boeken komt in Implants
het geheugen van de architectuur aan de orde: de gevoeligheden
die vroeger al in haar werk aanwezig waren - de controle, de
paranoia en het latente geweld die met bouwkundige ingrepen
gepaard gaan - krijgen nu een opvallende historische dimensie.

Flaherty - Chris Corsano - C. Spencer Yeh
Chris Corsano is een van meest veelzijdige drummers van het
moment. Vorig jaar liet hij een onuitwisbare indruk na met zijn
wervelende set als support voor The No-Neck Blues Band. Nu keert
hij terug met saxveteraan Paul Flaherty, een van de belangrijkste
muzikanten uit de Amerikaanse freejazz scene, en C. Spencer
Yeh van de noiseformatie Burning Star Core.

Bob Cobbing was the
first explorer of sound poetry in England and a long-time
experimenter in visual and performance poetry. His weekly
Experimental Poetry Workshop and numerous performances of
his own poetry, influenced a whole generation of English
experimental poets. Bob Cobbing died in 2002. His grandchild,
William Cobbing, proposed to screen one of Bob’s latest
performances at the Royal College of Art: a tribute to finish
William Cobbing’s presentation in Netwerk.

After Transient constructions (2003) and Paranoid obstructions
(2004), Els Vanden Meersch presents the
third release of her photographic work in book format.
Central theme is the memory of architecture. The historical
scope of her latest publication reinforces the thematic
sensibilities of her earlier phographic work: the control
mechanisms, the paranoia and the latent violence behind
large-scale building constructions.
