Naar aanleiding van de tentoonstelling Side Effects en in overleg met de kunstenaars stelt Netwerk een event voor waarin werken uit verschillende kunstuitingen de sfeer en de inhoud van de tentoonstelling onderbouwen.

 SIDE EFFECTS brengt het werk samen van twee fotografen. Lynne Cohen (CA) en Bert Danckaert (BE) bestuderen in hun foto's bizarre verschijningen die het gevolg zijn van menselijk gedrag. Beide kunstenaars leggen de residu's van menselijke activiteit vast zonder de mens zelf te tonen. Bert Danckaert brengt een selectie uit Make Sense!, een uitgebreid fotografisch werk waaraan hij sinds 1999 werkt. Lynne Cohen presenteert het recent tot stand gekomen Camouflage dat in Netwerk voor het eerst getoond zal worden. Het is een overzicht van en een terugblik op Cohens carrière die teruggaat tot het begin van de jaren zeventig. In Camouflage brengt ze werken samen die nooit eerder tentoongesteld of gepubliceerd werden. |

Make Sense! is een productie van Project & Project vzw en Netwerk vzw en wordt uitgegeven door POC (FR). Jean-Louis Poitevin schreef o.a. essays over Julien Gracq et Robert Musil.

JacquesTati / Mon Oncle (1958) Het fotowerk van Bert Danckaert en Lynne Cohen staat dicht bij de geest van het werk van Jacques Tati. Het ontstaat vanuit sociale en politieke beweegredenen, maar er is geen concrete boodschap. Hoewel het verhaal altijd extreem simpel is, zijn de films van Tati ook heel satirisch: in al zijn films levert Tati kritiek op de huidige moderne maatschappij. In alle films van Tati staan mensenmassa's centraal maar er is altijd een personage dat zich niet wil aanpassen maar uiteindelijk toch oplost in de massa. Dit individu, monsieur Hulot, altijd door Tati zelf gespeeld, vecht (vaak onbewust) tegen de moderniteit en dat resulteert vaak in hilarische mislukkingen, waarin de moderne techniek vernietigd wordt door de menselijke natuur.

On the occasion of Side Effects Netwerk presents Event#01, conceived in collaboration with the artists. Event#01 has a program that contextualizes the exhibition, crossing the bounderies of several disciplines.

SIDE EFFECTS brings together the work of two photographers. Lynne Cohen (CA) and Bert Danckaert (BE) capture the residues of human activity without showing people themselves. Bert Danckaert shows a selection from Make Sense!, the vast photographic work he has been working on since 1999. Lynne Cohen presents the recently published Camouflage in Netwerk for the first time. It is an survey of and retrospection on Cohen's career, which goes back to the early seventies. In Camouflage she brings together works that have never been exhibited nor published before. |

JacquesTati / Mon Oncle (1958) The photographic work of Bert Danckaert and Lynne Cohen relates to the spirit of Jacques Tati's films. His films have a social and political motivation, but there is no concrete message. Although the storyline is always extremely simple, the films of Tati are also very satirical: Tati provides criticism (critique) on the current modern society. In all of his films the human masses stand central but there's always a personage that does not want to adapt but eventually nevertheless disolves in the crowd. This individual, monsieur Hulot, always played by Tati himselve, fights (often subconsious / unconscious) against moderninty. This results frequently into hilaric faillures, in which modern techique is destroyed by the human nature.

Eavesdropper's music presents a mix of minimal and detailed compositions, and more violent rythmic work. His sound is provided with dark and layered structures sprouting both from accoustic and electronic sources. |
