Sound : Tape / Tenniscoats / Ass

The
Japanese formation Tenniscoats consists of the couple
Saya (vocals and keyboards) and Takashi Ueno (guitar and saxophone).
They make their own brilliant mix of pop, psychedelic folk and experimental
music. They were to be seen during an episode of MTV's This is our music,
as members of the Maher Shala Hash Baz collective. Live they are completed
by musicians of Tape, in order to give the listeners a very intense,
almost meditation-like experience. The members of Efterklan are totally
wild about their music, by the way, and organise concerts of Tenniscoats
in their homeland, Denmark.Listen to Tenniscoats through myspace |

The
Swedish Trio Tape makes subtle and playful folktronica
using field recordings, electronics, samples, guitar and small instruments.
Their marvelling sound sculptures and organic melodies have special
affinities with pop music. Tape was founded in 2000 by the brothers
Johan and Andreas Breithling and Tomas Hallosten. Their debut Opera
dates from 2002, followed by Milieu in 2003 - both albums appeared
on the delicate Häpna label. During the recording of their third
studio album Rideau, they cooperated with Plumaron's Markus Schmickler,
who made sound their music more focused and dynamic. Rideau is a beautiful
album that was often cited by music journalists among their ‘Best
Albums of the Year’.

Ass
is the alter ego of Andreas Söderström, a Swedish musician.
He plays with Jenny Wilson, Blood Music, Pallin and as an extra
live musician with Tape. His music is a unique blend of Americana
and folktronica.
