Sound : Berlin Night

Rechenzentrum From Berlin-am-Spree to Berlin-am-Dender
After the presentation of Annual 06 musicians from labels like ~scape, Kitty-Yo and Monika Enterprise will spin out an evening filled with elektronic sounds from Berlin. On the occasion of the exhibition BAROQ at the GRIDIRON HOTEL Netwerk selected the topnotch of the international music scene operating from the German metropolis.

At Documenta X the duo Lillevan and Marc Weiser set up Rechenzentrum (Kitty-Yo). Their concerts aim for a balance between audtive and visual media, their music being reminescent of minimal techno, with accents that refer to dub, avant-garde, ambient and digital hiphop. At the Netwerk concert they will offer a taste of their new record.
pole Pole meets Mapstation (~scape) is a recent live-project of Stefan Betke and Stefan Schneider. Originally Pole meets Mapstation was a one-off collaboration for a benefit concert. Their project got an unexpetcted sequel with the release of a 7” single. Betke (aka Pole) is known for his minimal dub music. Steingarten, his most recent album, generates its specific sound through the use of deep basses and a powerful, easy production style. Schneider (aka Mapstation) is mainly known from To-Rococo-Rot. His recent solo album Distance told me things to be said is typical ~scape: a recognizable, warm sound of dub with an exotic, jazzy touch.
Gudrun Gut Gudrun Gut is one of the most famous personalities from the Berlin underground. She has performed with Einstürzende Neubauten, Matador and Malaria!. Today she is the driving force behind the excellent label Monika Enterprise (that distributes bands like Barbara Morgenstern, Milenasong, Laurenz Pike). On her last album I put a record on her evocative, raspy voice is highlighted with minimal techno and instrumental experiments.
Milenasong Milenasong (Monika Enterprise), the project of Sabrina Milena, brings music that evoces abstract images. Her intimate, modest songs are composed of ambient collages and under-water-voices resulting in picturesque compositions.
