Netwerk / center for contemporary art aims to make the latest developments in the art world visible and accessible to the widest possible audience.

The center develops a format focusing on the visual arts, theoretically framed and placed in a national and international context. Netwerk is located in Aalst, a town centre with 80,000 residents, which is embedded within a conglomerate region of large and medium-sized cities. This conglomerate forms an art-landscape within itself that flourishes from a high concentration of thriving art scenes and a constant influx of artistic talent.

The centre thrives on a solid program with expanded exhibits, lectures, workshops, screenings, concerts and residences. Collaborations with international curators and organizations provide a systematic branching of Netwerk’s operations in and outside of Europe. In this way a dynamic comes to exist through which Netwerk becomes enrolled in a circulation of artists and ideas.

The centre has a spacious, renovated industrial building with a flexible infrastructure: an ideal environment for the artist to experiment or perfect for the visitor to experience and contemplate art.
